The History of Erik's AudioTronic

Eriks Home Entertainment CentreIn 1982, during an economic slowdown in the Yukon, the only two electronics stores closed their doors. Erik Hougen, then 19 years old, saw the opportunity to open a dedicated electronics store evolving out of the family owned electronics department of Hougen's Department Store. Starting in the basement with only 1,800 square feet, Erik has developed Erik's Home Entertainment Centre into a successful retail business occupying over 5,000 square feet on the main level of 3rd and Main, downtown Whitehorse.

Erik's is the largest and longest established full line electronics store in Whitehorse, Yukon, currently employing nine sales people.

To adapt to the ever-changing market, Erik's latest venture is to have a presence on the World Wide Web. Customers near and far can now have instant access to information. Those close to home still have the ability to come down to the showroom and deal directly with our friendly and knowledgeable sales staff, while our Internet Only customers have the opportunity to hear some of the Yukon's finest musicians and purchase their very own copies via the Net!

In the fall of 2005, Erik's AudioTronic relocated to a new 'state of the art' building on Alexander Street in downtown Whitehorse.  Taking advantage of the 20 foot ceilings, Erik's introduced the "Sony Entertainment Gallery" in a big way!  Come visit us!
